Blue sky's
We went out to Corsair Bay to watch a friend of ours called Anna who had entered an Ocean Swimming event. After the swim we went out to sumner to have a coffee and to eat lunch. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, wall to wall sunshine! Finished the day with our first BBQ (we got a goood deal in the sales this week)out on the deck, while the sun came down. Of course I was in charge of the cooking!!
Year 10 Camp to Boyle River
I managed to get my self on the Y10 camp at my first teaching placement Rangiora High School. We drove upto a Outdoor center on the Boyle river which was about 2 1/2 hours drive from Christchurch. It was great the kids where able to do so much.
Day out at Little Akaloa
Woke up to a great day so we decided to drive out to a place called Little Akaloa, which is about an hours drive out towards the Banks Peninsula. We took a picnic with us and had a great lunch over looking the water. We went for a walk around the bay, we met a few people who were going diving looking for Crays and other shell fish. On the walk we decided to to pick some muscles to cook later (which was a first!) Decided to take the coastal road back which ended up being an hour and a half drive on a dirt track where we didn't see another car. We saw the crazy tree when on the drive. Chilled out great day!! There seems to be so many place to see and thing to do!
Walk to Taylor Mistake
Just found these photo's. They are from the first week of being here. We walked from Sumner over the headland until we were ove rlooking Taylors mistake.
A Sunday morning stroll!
Friend of a Danni's sister put us in touch with a friend of his who lived in Christchurch called Simon. He took us out for a walk on the Port Hills which over look our house. Great views of the Southern Alps over to Lyttleton harbour. What makes this even better is that it is all a short walk away from our house.

Diamond Harbour
We had a day trip to Diamond Harbour, which it 10mins by ferry from a place called Lyttleton. Had a wonder around the town and along the coast. Found a great pub which overlooked the water, so we sat there and had a few drinks and watched the world go by. Really good chilled out day before I start my 1st teaching placement tomorrow!
Danni's a Crusaders Fan!!
But only because Dan Carter plays for them!!!
We went to a Canterbury Crusaders game who were playing against the Otago Highlanders in the first round of the Super 14's. Went with a few friends from the Teaching college Anna and Kim. They put on quite a show, horses, helicopters, cheerleaders, massive flames etc. I have never seen Danni as keen to watch a game, she go well into it even was keen to demonstrate her try scoring ability!!!! Crusaders came through to win comfortably in the end but it was pretty tight for the last 20mins of so.
Another day on Christchurch Council!!
'Kite Day'
Only in NZ. Didn't know what to think about this but we decided to go along as it was free! It turned out to really good. Loads of people all just chilling out at the beach with their kites!!! Then we push onto Hagley Park where they have something called 'Lazy Sundays' which is where the council put on some live music and everyone just sits around and has a relaxing Sunday. There was a really good atmosphere at both events. Fair play to the council!!!
