Trip to the big smoke

It was a long weekend, so we decided to travel up to Auckland to see Dave and Hazel. The flight is only an hour and only cost $50 so I feel we will be making the trip again soon. Had a really good weekend the weather was scorching. Dave and Hazel play the tour guides very well, visiting Rangitoto volcano, Piaha beach, St Helliers and a few more places I can't remember the names of. Top weekend!

First school trip to a place that's about an hours drive from Christchurch. It was designed to prepare pupil to lead Primary kids next week. It was quite basic, had to sleep one the floor! 6.30am touch tournament when down well!

A bit of culture with Ron Mueck

How crazy are these! This was a exhibition and the Christchurch gallery. All of the sculptures were so life like is was scary, they were all in different scales from oversize to very small. How cultured are we!!!

Hols continue Able Tasman......

After the storms of the previous day. The drive from Picton to Nelson and then on Abel Tasman was really good. Weather as pretty good for a spring day. Friend of ours Erica had frends who let us the house for the weekend. As you can see it was a special place, pool! view! bbq! what more do you want. Had a visit to Split Apple Rock beach (see the pics). The second day we walked a bit of the Abel Tasman track and then settle on the beach the boys had a little bit of and venture over the rocks and back. I can't wait to get back up here soon!

3rd Day QCT

Wet, wet, really wet! Portage Bay to Anakiwa to catch the ferry back. Nearly didn't set off as there was a lot of rain, most of the track was like riding down a river. Similar pattern 'hike your bike' and then some sweet down hill though a beach forest. Had to hose both are bikes a our self down at the end so we could get on the water taxi. As you can see by the photo's I think that I was loving it a little more than Danni. 71Kms of single track, we both had a great time, that a great birthday present. How were we looking forward to a hot shower.....
