Still can’t get to many places in the city, but these are some photos from behind the fences. The official word that people are using which I feel sums it up pretty well is ‘munted’. The city will never be the same again and will take years to rebuild.

Sunday afternoon we decided to head out and do a ride out to Little River following an old railway line. Easy ride, but loads to look as as we cruised along. Only down side was that the cafe was closing when we got to Little River (it smelt so good).

The extra weeks holidays that I get for working at a Private school has it’s pro’s and con’s. Con’s no one else is off work (I know you all have lots of sympathy for me!), but the pro’s being time off work to do some exploring! I dropped Danni off at work and then headed towards Arthurs Pass for a bit of biking. Craigieburn forest is set up for skiing in the winter but in the summer has a number of tracks to explore. Tracks to start with as 7km up hill on the access road just to get warmed up! Then the next section was a little hairy to say the least! (Good job I didn’t take Danni on this one), traversing scree slops which were quite exposed were a new one for me! The reward for all the hard work was about 4kms at the end of sweet single track through beach forests, loved it! Drive back towards ChCh I stopped at Castle Hill, which I can only describe as Brimham rocks on steroids!  Good day out and about, but the problem is the more place a go the more I want to do, time is running out will just have to cram as much as possible in!

UK Visit

We popped back to the UK for a week! Highlights were seeing friends and family. Young Zac my sisters first child was the star of the show. It was really good catching up with everyone.

Mountain Biking Hanmer Springs

To escape the after shocks we headed upto Hanmer Springs for the weekend. Great Mountain biking on the trails that the local mountain biking club have made over the years. We also headed out to the Molsworth station over Jacks and Jollies passes which really felt like the middle of no where. Top off with Hot pools in the evening to sooth the legs after a good days biking.

Wharfedale on the other side of the world!

Small world! There is a Mountain biking route called the Wharfedale track! We headed out after work one night, great single track riding all so close. I did manage to fall off a few times with my confidence far outwaying my ability. So many more tracks to try but so little time.
