New Job

Started my new job today at Christ's College. The school has great grounds as you can see by the photos. It's a boarding school which has very strong traditions. I would be interested if the boys from PHGS whould like to wear the uniform!

Paddling the Whanganui River with the Nutts

After the highlights of the engagement it was back to the grindstone! 5 day 150kms river journey down the Whanganui with Nutts. It proved to be a really great trip! Out in the wilds, it's a good job my shoulder stayed in. There were over 150 rapids on the river, all pretty small but there were a few times I nearly got the blame for capsizing us. Weather was stinking hot for most of the time, which lead to lots swimming in the river! We ate like kings, I think we nearly sunk the canoes with the amount of food we took with us. All in great trip! Onto New Plymouth!

Popping the question

Well I got round to it at last! To quote my Dad 'It's about time!'. On the last day of the Tramp we stopped for lunch at a place called Tama lakes and I asked Danni to marry me (I did get down on one knee!). I had arrange to stay at the Chateau Tongariro. Champagne and chocolate in the room (I think I earned some Browne points), it was a great place to stay and we had some excellent food! On to the paddle the Wangauni with the Nutts.

Summer Holidays Tramp around the Tongariro Northern Circuit

Our Summer holiday trip to the North Island started with a walk around the Tongariro Northern Circuit. It was a 4 day walk round one of the volcano's in the National Park. We ate like kings steak was the high light of the food and made some other trampers jealous. Crazy views so different to the other walks that we have done before, fabulous rock formations and brilliant coloured lakes. Was a quite hard tramp, which had a little surprise on day 4!
